What the future holds for beauty academy graduates

In Australia, beauty academy degrees are becoming increasingly popular, with graduates earning $50,000-$70,000 a year.

Now, a new generation of Australian graduates is setting their sights on the big leagues, with some in the industry setting their ambitions on earning $100,000-150,000 per year.

“It’s been a long time coming, and I think that we’re now in a position to finally make it happen,” said Laura Poon, managing director of Beauty Academy Australia.

The $100k-150k salary range is a result of changes to the industry, with the number of students graduating from the program falling from around 500 in 2015 to around 250 this year.

“The beauty industry has changed drastically,” Ms Poon said.

“[The] beauty industry is now more open and there’s more choice, so students are starting to have that opportunity now.”

The beauty academy program has also attracted a new wave of students from other parts of the world, with students from South America and the US now taking up the program.

In the first year of enrolment, more than 1,000 students from more than a dozen countries took up the Beauty Academy program in Melbourne, Ms Poo said.

“It is so exciting to be part of the beauty industry, and it’s also really rewarding to be able to contribute to a community that is growing globally,” she said.”[We’re] able to give back to a country that has been so supportive of beauty and women’s empowerment.”

As a result, beauty academies in the US and the UK are also looking to recruit more students, with Ms Pooman and other graduates keen to travel and teach their peers about the beauty world.

But there are challenges ahead.

Ms Poon has already had to change the curriculum of her beauty academy in the past, and the university has taken steps to increase its diversity.

While the cost of the program has gone up over the years, the costs of the fees and books has also risen.

Students at the Beauty academy in Sydney now pay about $100 a week for a classroom, but the fee for a workshop was increased from $40,000 to $60,000 last year.

The school also launched a new business plan in 2017 to increase the number and size of workshops.

More than half of Beauty academy graduates have gone on to study for jobs in the beauty and beauty sciences, and about a third of them have chosen to return to Australia.

“Beauty is now in our national consciousness, so we’re going to need to find ways to attract more women and girls into this field,” Ms Trowbridge said.

For Ms Poot, who has two young children and has just finished her undergraduate degree, she wants her children to have the opportunity to learn about beauty.

As part of her work, Ms Trowski has started a beauty company, Beauty, which is based in the UK and is looking to expand to the US.

Despite the high cost of education, the beauty profession is booming.

Last year, the US beauty industry generated $8.9 billion in revenue, according to research firm NPD Group, and a whopping $5.2 billion was spent in the country on beauty products in 2016.

With an average salary of $70,200, the industry has seen a 25 per cent increase in turnover since the mid-2000s, with more than 80 per cent of graduates in the U.S. earning at least $150,400.
